Central Iowa STC 2006 Goals
Hello Central Iowa STCers! Let me be the first to welcome you to our
newly re-established online newsletter, Perspectives.
Alisha Logsdon, our editor, has been working hard to pull together
articles and will be sending out notifications when each new edition is
ready. We will be working to establish some regular 'columns' for
the newsletter, like this one. You can expect to see an update from the
president or another board member so that you're always in the know,
even if you can't get to the meetings.
So what's the big plan for the year? Well, the board worked hard
this summer and fall on strategic planning. We have chosen several
goals for the Central Iowa Chapter to achieve this year that align with
STC
Internationals goals. Our chapter goals were originally established
during the 2004
Transformation initiative. In order to help promote the goals of
STC International while offering the Central Iowa members the best STC
experience we can, the following goals have been set:
- Update/Upgrade website- provide one new feature
- Implement a fund-raiser for chapter
- Hold an event with a similar organization
- Promote STC in the local community
- Host a workshop
- Provide programs that are of value to members
So what does this mean for you? More ways to get involved in your local chapter, of course!
Volunteer to help redesign the CSS for the Central Iowa website. Work on a committee to develop a fund-raiser or activity to help boost our chapter's income. Help organize and attend a networking night where you can meet other professionals from other organizations. Develop and work on a marketing plan to help promote STC and its members locally. Speak to a high school English class and tell them about the field of Technical Communication. Or mentor a college student in the ISU Technical Communication program. Contribute to our new newsletter. All are great resume boosters and all help benefit our local STC chapter.
