An overview of STC Central Iowa.

The Society for Technical Communication is a nonprofit international organization devoted to educating, recognizing, and advancing technical communicators around the world. Technical communicators include anyone who develops technical information for use by others (visit Who Are Technical Communicators?).

The STC Central Iowa Community, chartered in 1986 as the STC Des Moines Chapter, today includes over 70 technical communicators throughout Iowa.

Worldwide, the Society for Technical Communication has more than 18,000 members and 147 chapters (or communities). STC is the largest organization of its kind.

STC-Central Iowa meets September through May, offering programs in tools and technology, team communications, project management, and other topics that help our members acquire and develop the skills to stay marketable in the workplace. The Central Iowa Community promotes the STC international organization by:

  • sponsoring regional professional development events and educational programs,
  • providing to prospective and current members the opportunity to network both online and in-person, and
  • recognizing members who contribute to our Community and to the technical communication profession.
